Dr. Flavia Wehrle

Flavia Wehrle is a postdoc at the Child Development Center at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich, Switzerland. Her main research focuses on the neurodevelopmental outcome of children at risk for neurodevelopmental impairments, including children born very preterm and with congenital heart disease. She also investigates the life-span development of typically-developing and at-risk individuals from birth to old age in the context of the Zurich Longitudinal Studies – a set of three cohort studies initiated in the 1950s at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she conducted several studies on the impact of the pandemic on physical and mental well-being: Children, adolescents and young adults with and without complex medical histories, and their parents were surveyed prior to the outbreak of the pandemic and repeatedly throughout 2020 and 2021 to assess well-being, health-related concerns and how the pandemic impacts their everyday lives.
